About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work in conjunction with the Professional Development Manager to plan, implement and evaluate departmental orientation and education activities for clinical and support caregivers
  • Plan and implement orientation for new hires
  • Assist education caregivers in assigning unit preceptors
  • Assist in interviewing new caregivers
  • Complete probationary performance evaluations for new hires and participate in annual evaluations with unit managers
  • Coordinate continuing education, training programs and staff development within the department
  • Assist in coordinating programs with local colleges and universities
  • Perform patient care for up to 20% of work time in the area of clinical expertise to demonstrate clinical competence and teach others
  • Assist the management team with caregiver compliance with regulatory requirements, including CPR, ACLS, fire safety, diversity, code management, HIPAA training and TB testing coordination

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • If performing moderate/procedural sedation, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within six months of hire
  • Two years of perioperative experience, specifically in circulating/OR setting
  • Demonstrated expertise in a clinical specialty with current patient care competence
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, motivational strategies, change theory, group process skills, leadership strategies and teaching
  • Demonstrated computer skills utilizing clinical systems (Epic/Optime) and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours
  • Ability to work with some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids
  • Compliance with required personal protective equipment and standard precautions
