About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform blood collection procedures and follow venipuncture procedures
  • Maintain appropriate log sheets
  • Verify order requests and identifying information before drawing blood or collecting specimens/kits
  • Label collected specimens and deliver them to the appropriate processing area
  • Perform specimen processing and send-out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging
  • Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types and laboratory supplies
  • Work varying shifts as a PRN caregiver
  • Help patients feel at ease during blood draws and enhance the care experience

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practices
  • Formal Phlebotomy Certification preferred
  • Ability to perform frequent and long durations of standing and walking
  • Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements
  • Ability to follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required
  • Weekend rotation: 8-noon every other Saturday
  • Must comply with the annual influenza prevention program through vaccination or an approved exemption
