About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform blood collection and venipuncture procedures
- Maintain appropriate log sheets
- Verify order requests and patient information before drawing blood or collecting specimens/kits
- Label collected specimens and deliver them to the appropriate processing area
- Perform specimen processing and send-out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation, and packaging
- Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types, and laboratory supplies
- Provide compassionate patient support during blood draws
- Support diagnosis, treatment, and quality patient care as part of the Medical Laboratory Team
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Phlebotomy Technician experience
- Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practices
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment
- Formal Phlebotomy Certification preferred
- Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship preferred
- Ability to work under minimal supervision preferred
- Ability to excel in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment preferred
- Ability to stand and walk for frequent and long durations
- Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors
- Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood-drawing equipment and make measurements
- Ability to follow standard precautions and use required personal protective equipment
- Successful post-offer controlled-substance testing
- Compliance with annual influenza vaccination program or approved exemption
