About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform blood collection procedures and follow venipuncture procedures
- Maintain appropriate log sheets
- Verify order requests and identify information before drawing blood or collecting specimens/kits
- Label collected specimens and deliver them to the appropriate processing area
- Perform specimen processing and send-out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging
- Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types and laboratory supplies
- Support the Medical Laboratory team and help create a positive patient experience
- Work days on an 8:30am–5:00pm or 9:00am–6:00pm schedule
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques and common practices
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment
- Formal Phlebotomy Certification (preferred)
- Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship (preferred)
- One year of Phlebotomy experience (preferred)
- Ability to perform frequent and long durations of standing and walking
- Visual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors
- Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
- Must comply with the influenza prevention program, including annual vaccination or an approved exemption
