About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete comprehensive mental status, psychosocial, risk, and chemical use assessments
  • Identify patient crisis needs and participate in ongoing assessment and care plan recommendations
  • Provide crisis intervention using therapeutic, patient-centered, research-informed, and evidence-based practices
  • Provide clinical instruction and supervision to Psychiatric Crisis Intervention Specialists seeking independent licensure and student interns
  • Document crisis intervention services and complete professional charge capture requirements
  • Supply information to the medical team for differential diagnosis consideration
  • Recognize significant changes in patient condition and respond appropriately
  • Navigate insurance verification and pre-certification processes for behavioral health care-outs
  • Provide psychoeducation to patients’ families, significant others, and coworkers on behavioral health and de-escalation
  • Develop individualized plans of care with patients, families, designees, and current providers
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on individualized care plans
  • Process referrals to appropriate dispositions, including inpatient placement or community wraparound services
  • Assist with orientation of new Behavioral Health Intake team staff and hospital personnel
  • Communicate patient care plans, outcomes, and acuity during end-of-shift reports
  • Perform routine administrative office functions to facilitate casework
  • Use informatics tools, principles, theories, and practices in care delivery
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Incorporate patient safety goals into daily practice
  • Complete all patient-care documentation and records

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MA or MS in a healthcare profession, or an MEd
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III (LCDC-III), or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Two years of work experience post Master’s Degree
  • Corrected hearing and vision to normal range
  • Full range of motion and eye-hand coordination
  • Ability to stand or walk for extensive periods of time
  • Ability to follow standard precautions and use required personal protective equipment
  • Must comply with annual influenza vaccination program or obtain an approved exemption
  • Preferred: LISW, LISW-S, LPCC, or LPCC-S
