About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide continuous remote observation of patients across the Cleveland Clinic enterprise from a centralized monitoring location
  • Observe multiple patients, up to 15–20 at a time, using a telemonitoring system
  • Verbally redirect patients as needed through a digital two-way audio device
  • Promptly alert nursing staff through the alarm system or Vocera when intervention is required
  • Maintain visual observation of assigned patients
  • Immediately summon nursing staff when patients require assistance
  • Participate in handoffs of pertinent patient information and behavior at the beginning and end of shifts
  • Arrange meal breaks and inform staff before leaving the monitoring station so relief can maintain constant observation
  • Provide patients with explanations as necessary without counseling or offering opinions
  • Comply with corporate and departmental policies, procedures, quality assurance methods, and safety codes
  • Use NAME TeleSitter Solution software
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration with management and peers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • General knowledge of hospital settings
  • Ability to monitor up to 15 patients on one screen and prioritize simultaneous situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset
  • Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes
  • Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Compliance with licensing, regulatory, and accrediting agency provisions as required
  • Compliance with annual influenza vaccination program or approved exemption
  • Successful controlled-substance testing after employment offer
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a hospital environment
  • Preferred: Previous clinical experience
  • Preferred: Previous direct patient care experience
  • Preferred: Nurse Assistant/Medical Assistant Certification
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds
  • Frequent grasping and reaching
  • Mental concentration and precise accuracy
  • Use of personal protective equipment as required
