About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide continuous remote observation of patients across the Cleveland Clinic enterprise from a centralized monitoring location
  • Observe multiple patients, up to 15–20 at a time, using a telemonitoring system
  • Verbally redirect patients to ensure safety and prevent at-risk behaviors
  • Alert nursing staff through the alarm system or Vocera when intervention is required
  • Maintain visual observation
  • Verbally redirect patients over a digital two-way audio device
  • Immediately summon nursing staff when a patient requires assistance
  • Participate in hand-offs of pertinent patient information and behavior at shift changes
  • Arrange meal breaks and inform staff before leaving the monitoring station so continuous observation is maintained
  • Provide patients with explanations as necessary without counseling or offering opinions
  • Comply with corporate and departmental policies, procedures, quality assurance methods, and safety codes
  • Use the NAME TeleSitter Solution software
  • Demonstrate professional communication and collaborate with management and peers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • General knowledge of hospital settings
  • Ability to monitor up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and prioritize simultaneous situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset
  • Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes
  • Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff
  • Must comply with licensing, regulatory, and accrediting agency provisions as required
  • Must comply with the annual influenza prevention program, including vaccination or an approved exemption
  • Must undergo controlled-substance testing following an employment offer
  • Preferred: Previous experience in a hospital environment
  • Preferred: Previous clinical experience
  • Preferred: Previous direct patient care experience
  • Preferred: Nurse Assistant/Medical Assistant Certification
  • Requires ability to sit for prolonged periods
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 10 pounds
  • Frequent grasping and reaching
  • Mental concentration and precise accuracy
  • Must use personal protective equipment as required
