About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work with the Accounting Manager and report to the Finance Director
  • Process and enter grants, bills, purchase orders, contracts, and vendor payments in Intacct and Tipalti
  • Ensure appropriate GL coding and complete supporting documentation
  • Review payment documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Prepare weekly, special, monthly staff, and contractor payment runs
  • Monitor outstanding accounts payable and follow up on required approvals
  • Serve as a resource for vendors and staff regarding payment questions
  • Resolve day-to-day Tipalti issues, including failed payments and vendor information updates
  • Maintain 1099 vendor information and support annual filing periods
  • Manage Expensify workflows, expense reports, receipts, categorization, and staff support
  • Train new staff on Expensify and related expense processes
  • Prepare quarterly cash-to-general-ledger reconciliations
  • Maintain active contract records, balances, and end dates
  • Report contract status and review outstanding contracts and purchase orders
  • Flag contract expirations, outstanding items, and other issues
  • Prepare and post cash journal entries, including international contractor payment activity
  • Prepare quarterly accounts payable and contract accruals
  • Support accurate and timely month-end close activities
  • Communicate issues, missing information, and anticipated delays affecting deadlines
  • Participate in CLUA team and Operations meetings
  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Grants, HR, Operations, and program teams across locations and time zones

Requirements

  • Strong accounting skills, including accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and/or month-end close processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple recurring deadlines and high-volume workflows

  • Strong problem-solving and judgment skills

  • Comfort working across multiple financial systems; experience with Intacct, Tipalti, and Expensify is highly desirable
  • Prior nonprofit, foundation, or mission-driven organization accounting experience is a plus
  • Experience with international currency transactions is preferred
