About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, build, and continuously enhance Proxmox-based private cloud environments
- Migrate existing VMware and other virtualization environments to Proxmox
- Build and operate Kubernetes platforms, particularly with Rancher and RKE2
- Design highly available infrastructure and storage solutions, for example using Ceph
- Automate infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD
- Advise customers on private cloud, hybrid cloud, and modern infrastructure
- Analyze existing environments and develop suitable target architectures
- Support technical workshops, migrations, and proofs of concept
- Document architectures and technical decisions
- Take responsibility for architectural decisions, technical standards, or team development, depending on experience
- Collaborate with customers and the engineering team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Hands-on experience with Proxmox VE
- Solid Linux skills
- Good foundational knowledge of virtualization, networking, and storage
- Basic understanding of containers and containerized applications
- Strong general IT infrastructure knowledge
- Independent and structured approach to work
- Interest in solving technical challenges collaboratively with customers
- Very good German and good English skills
- Willingness and ability to learn and develop expertise in Kubernetes, Rancher, RKE2, Ceph, Terraform, Ansible, Azure, AWS, VMware-to-Proxmox migrations, highly available private cloud architectures, backup and disaster recovery concepts, network architectures, VPNs, firewalls, VLANs, and monitoring
