About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead technical deep-dive discovery with Account Executives and map customer infrastructure to Cloudflare architectures and bespoke solutions
- Define scope, success criteria, and technical evaluation plans for Proofs of Concept and Technical Validations
- Deliver tailored technical presentations, architectural diagrams, and demonstrations
- Address technical objections, security compliance questions, and edge-case architectural requirements
- Provide oversight to technical onboarding and implementation without executing the implementation
- Design migration and onboarding blueprints and guide customer engineering teams through configuration best practices
- Own discovery, demos, onboarding, technical health, risk, and expansion strategy with Account Executives
- Monitor customer health scores and telemetry, resolve integration bottlenecks, and reduce deployment risk
- Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and/or account growth
- Identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities and lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews
- Act as a trusted technical advisor through onboarding, maturity, renewal, and expansion
- Leverage AI agents, LLMs, and internal platforms to automate routine workflows
- Partner with Enablement to create technical resources, SOPs, architectural guidance, and technical documentation
- Report to a Customer Engineering Leader
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, Professional Services, Sales Engineering, Technical Account Management, or Forward Deployed Engineering
- Ability to white-board, design, and clearly articulate complex enterprise network and security architectures
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts into business outcomes for engineers and C-level executives
- Proven track record in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment
- Strong understanding of SaaS metrics, business value translation, and enterprise sales cycles
- Exceptional presentation and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated depth in at least four technical areas
- Deep understanding of Internet fundamentals, including OSI layers 1–7, BGP, GRE, TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP(S), and SSL/TLS
- Expertise in Internet security concepts including WAF, Bot Management, Firewalls, Rate Limiting, (M)TLS, Zero Trust, and SASE
- Expertise in Internet performance concepts including speed, latency, caching, video streaming, HTTP/2, and TLS 1.3
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, AI-assisted scripting and log analysis, LLM utilization, and workflow automation
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, Bash, Lua, Go, or similar languages
- Experience with RESTful/GraphQL APIs, SDKs, webhooks, developer tooling, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and observability
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- May require authorization to receive technology controlled under U.S. export laws without export-license sponsorship
- Ability to travel up to 20–50%
