About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Architect and build Cloudflare-native replacements for ITAM’s third-party tooling
Build and own ITAM’s internal MCP servers connecting IT systems, data sources, and workflows to Cloudflare OS and AI-powered tooling
Refactor IT operational workflows onto Workers, Durable Objects, D1, AI Gateway, Queues, and related Cloudflare platform primitives
Build AI agents and AI-powered automation for faster, more accurate, and less manual IT operations
Define ITAM’s future platform data architecture, including ownership models, source-of-truth design, and integrations
Lead build-versus-buy decisions and retire third-party tools when Cloudflare-native replacements are ready
Partner with the Software Asset Management pillar on operational requirements
Set engineering standards for architecture, code quality, documentation, and decision-making
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through design reviews and technical coaching
Own the security, compliance, and data governance posture of built systems
Operate as a high-ownership, high-autonomy individual contributor and engineering bar-setter

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong coding ability in TypeScript, Go, Rust, or Bash
Excellent systems design instincts, including ownership boundaries, data flows, failure modes, and long-term maintainability
Deep experience designing and building distributed systems, internal platforms, or greenfield application architecture
Experience with modern cloud-native development; Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, D1, or similar edge/serverless platforms strongly preferred
Experience building LLM-based tooling in production, including agents, MCP servers, context engineering, or AI-assisted workflows
Strong communication skills for translating complex technical architecture into clear decisions for non-technical stakeholders
Self-directed and high-ownership, owning projects from roadmap through delivery and ongoing operation
Based in Austin, TX; hybrid and expected to be onsite regularly
Prior experience on a platform engineering, developer productivity, or internal tools team (nice to have)
Experience building or operating MCP servers or context-engineering infrastructure at scale (nice to have)
Contributions to open-source developer tooling or AI projects (nice to have)
Familiarity with IT asset management, SaaS management, or internal operations domains (nice to have)
Experience with CI/CD systems and build tooling (nice to have)
May require authorization to receive technology controlled under U.S. export control laws without sponsorship for an export license
