About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join Cloudflare’s Zero Trust team as a Senior Windows Software Engineer
- Work on the Zero Trust desktop client that securely and privately sends corporate-device traffic to Cloudflare’s global network
- Use Rust, platform-native languages, and APIs to implement high-performance networking code across desktop platforms
- Improve code quality and build solid, testable, and well-documented foundations
- Make significant contributions to the design and implementation of major development projects
- Work closely with product managers and other teams to implement customer-impacting features
- Address problems driven by large-scale deployment and stringent quality, performance, and security requirements
- Participate in code review, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and cross-team technical design coordination
Requirements
What you’ll need- In-depth knowledge of Windows internals, kernel-mode programming, and network protocols
- Experience in low-level Windows driver development, ideally network drivers
- Excellent programming skills and experience writing high-quality, low-complexity, thoroughly documented code
- Strong experience writing easily-testable and thoroughly-tested code, including dependency injection and appropriate abstractions
- Experience with lower-level languages such as Rust, C, and C++
- Very comfortable writing multithreaded, asynchronous code
- Strong experience debugging network-related problems
- Understanding of VPN technologies and trade-offs between privacy, security, and anonymity
- Good understanding of and experience with security protocols and standards
- Experience mentoring engineers and raising a team’s technical bar through code review and knowledge sharing
- Experience owning technical designs end-to-end and writing specifications and design documents
- Track record of debugging and resolving complex issues spanning team and system boundaries
- Empathetic, proactive, and constructive verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to satisfy U.S. export-control authorization requirements without sponsorship for an export license, if applicable
