About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and maintain Cloudflare’s SDKs, Terraform provider, and code generation tooling
Develop API versioning and compatibility practices
Improve API governance through consistent schemas, clear standards, and pre-release checks
Support internal teams and work directly with customers to investigate issues and turn recurring friction into lasting improvements
Own projects from design through release and ongoing maintenance
Help internal engineers ship better APIs and use customer feedback to shape development

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years of experience building large-scale software applications
Deep Go expertise and experience building and maintaining production software
Fluency across languages such as TypeScript and Python
Experience building, maintaining, or contributing to a Terraform provider
Experience shipping SDKs or client libraries, including testing, releases, dependency management, and backward compatibility
Strong API design and developer tooling judgment
Ability to untangle complex problems, set direction, and lead projects from design through delivery
Experience mentoring junior engineers through feedback and opportunities to take ownership
Experience using AI and automation to improve engineering workflows and verify output quality
Experience versioning an API, building schema-driven code generators, or establishing API governance is especially valuable
Experience managing containerized workloads at scale using Kubernetes, Docker, or similar orchestration platforms
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies for infrastructure
Contributions to open-source systems software projects or active participation in the systems engineering community
May require authorization to receive software or technology controlled under U.S. export control laws without sponsorship for an export license
