Key responsibilities & impact

Maintain and expand Cloudflare’s DNS infrastructure and implement customer-facing features
Write high-quality, maintainable, well-tested code
Act as a subject matter expert and go-to contact for moderately complex systems
Identify team issues and propose solutions that improve processes and technology
Collaborate with Product and stakeholders on product requirement documents
Mentor and onboard junior team members through code and design reviews
Debug and resolve complex service issues with minimal assistance
Improve system resilience through refactoring and re-architecting
Own medium-to-large projects from initial design through completion

Requirements

What you’ll need

BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Strong systems programming fundamentals, including performance, concurrency, and networking
Ability to write production code in Rust or Go, or learn a comparable language quickly
Habit of measuring before optimizing and reasoning about failure modes
Willingness to own changes beyond code, including rollout, monitoring, on-call, and follow-up
Ability to drive projects to completion and scope work effectively
Experience running established team meetings or technical discussions is a bonus
Contributions to technical documentation or talks are a bonus
Experience interviewing and providing feedback on technical candidates is a bonus
Familiarity with large-scale, high-performance service environments is a bonus
Open source contributions are a bonus
Knowledge of DNSSEC and DNS security extensions is a bonus
Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks is a bonus
