About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing Accounts Payable teams.
  • Set measurable goals, conduct performance reviews, and plan talent development.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, training, and planning for projected growth.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, Workplace Services, Business Development, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee daily Accounts Payable management and delegate team tasks.
  • Handle complex, judgmental, or non-routine customer and vendor inquiries.
  • Ensure accurate and timely vendor invoice processing and payments.
  • Manage and approve Accounts Payable payments.
  • Manage the check-writing application and reduce or eliminate physical checks.
  • Administer and ensure compliance with the corporate credit card program.
  • Oversee travel and entertainment expenses through Emburse and implement technology improvements.
  • Oversee vendor onboarding, due diligence, tax documentation, and banking validation.
  • Maintain vendor master data integrity through controls and periodic reviews.
  • Establish vendor communication standards and escalation protocols.
  • Optimize cash outflows through payment timing, terms management, and discount capture.
  • Support cash forecasting and liquidity planning with Accounting.
  • Drive Accounts Payable process improvement, audit readiness, standardization, and scalable operational excellence.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; relevant experience in lieu of a college degree may be considered.
  • Prior law firm experience in an accounting/finance role highly desirable; experience in other professional accounting roles is required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Experience leading and driving a team, with leadership abilities in motivation, coaching, and training staff highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and comfort interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work at all organizational levels and establish credibility.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Initiative, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks with excellent time management.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Occasional travel to other offices may be necessary, anticipated two to three times a year.
