About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Advise clients on employment law matters, including discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair dismissal, unlawful deduction of wages, breach of contract, and business protection claims
- Handle Employment Tribunal litigation, including drafting pleadings and witness statements and attending hearings
- Provide day-to-day employment advice on contracts, policies, disciplinary, grievance, capability, redundancy, TUPE, and other people-related issues
- Support large-scale restructuring projects and service provision changes involving TUPE
- Advise businesses and individuals on employment aspects of corporate transactions
- Conduct due diligence and draft employment-related provisions in share purchase agreements and service agreements
- Source and coordinate international advice for cross-border employment work and transactions
- Generate leads, participate in networking, contribute to thought leadership, and support growth of the employment practice
- Manage client relationships and liaise directly with clients
- Manage a varied caseload across contentious and non-contentious employment matters
- Collaborate with colleagues across the wider employment and commercial teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience managing or assisting with Employment Tribunal litigation, including drafting pleadings, witness statements, and attending hearings
- Demonstrable ability to provide commercially focused day-to-day employment law advice on disciplinary matters, grievances, redundancy, TUPE, and contract queries
- Exposure to employment aspects of corporate transactions, including due diligence and drafting employment-related provisions in share purchase agreements and service agreements
- Confident in liaising directly with clients, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to client service
- Strong legal drafting skills, including client-facing correspondence, advice notes, and employment contracts/policies
- Good understanding of business development, including networking, thought leadership, and practice growth
- Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload, balancing litigation and advisory work
- Collaborative mindset and eagerness to support colleagues across employment and commercial teams
- Interest in developing expertise in sectors such as insurance, healthcare, transport, energy, or infrastructure
