About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process multi-state, multi-cycle payrolls from beginning to end
  • Coordinate with supervisors and managers to ensure payroll records are accurate
  • Audit time entries and adjust records as needed
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and prepare management and accounting reports
  • Coordinate payroll audit workflows and finalize payroll in UKG
  • Coordinate, audit and fund 401K uploads for all pay groups
  • Manage tax accounts, registrations, tax rate changes, POA filings and third-party access
  • Establish garnishment controls, and manage and audit garnishment withholdings and responses
  • Audit and review employee tax setup and correct historical records
  • Assist with HRIS and payroll system maintenance and configuration
  • Respond to payroll inquiries from associates and managers
  • Coordinate UKG training for associates and managers when needed
  • Assist with year-end W2 reporting, tax reconciliation and additional annual compensation processing
  • Provide workflow management and mentorship to the payroll team
  • Serve as backup to the Payroll Manager
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties and projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years of multi-state payroll experience required
  • 3–5 years of general experience
  • Experience with Canadian payroll, multistate, union and non-union payroll preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements related to payroll
  • Proficient in interpreting collective bargaining agreements for pay rules, benefit requirements, and attendance plan rules
  • Working knowledge of state and federal tax laws
  • Ability to understand system configuration and impact on earnings and deductions
  • Proficient in MS Office products, with advanced knowledge in Excel
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Ability to work in a team-based and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to provide workflow management and support of a team
