About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the work activities of claims professionals and claims managers
- Set and communicate expectations, provide direction and coaching, facilitate training and development, manage employee performance, and contribute to employee engagement
- Drive productivity, manage expenses, ensure appropriate vendor use, oversee and authorize claim resolution strategies, and ensure quality and customer service standards
- Hold the team accountable for high-quality and timely claim service
- Develop service initiatives, processes and training to improve customer experience
- Oversee claim file engagement, monitor quality dashboards, provide feedback, and address training needs across multiple teams
- Use data analytics to monitor team performance and develop strategies to improve operational effectiveness
- Manage department and claims expenses by achieving productivity, efficiency and quality targets
- Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external resources
- Communicate information through team meetings, 1:1 discussions, leadership messages, and process documentation
- Participate with senior leadership in developing, implementing and reinforcing claim handling protocols, business strategies and objectives
- Oversee compliance with state and local regulatory requirements
- Report to the VP, Field Liability
- May participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree with Master’s preferred or equivalent experience
- Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience
- Three years of management experience preferred, including leading leaders
- Background in auto physical damage strongly preferred
- Additional auto bodily injury experience considered a plus
- Applicable certifications or professional designations preferred
- Thorough knowledge of the insurance industry and the organization's products, policies and procedures
- Advanced technical expertise and business management acumen
- Investigation and claims resolution experience
- Expert knowledge of claims principles, practices and procedures
- Ability to recruit, lead, coach, develop and retain claims professionals and/or managers
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software
- Knowledge of commercial insurance laws, regulations or trends for the line of business
