About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage an inventory of the most complex EPL and Private and Not-For-Profit D&O claims, including coverage determinations, investigations, resolution strategies, negotiations, and complex litigation management
Provide professional and timely claims service while achieving quality and cycle time standards
Verify coverage and set and manage timely, adequate reserves
Develop, own, and execute claim resolution strategies with internal and external business partners
Negotiate complex settlements and partner with counsel to manage complex litigation
Establish and manage significant claim budgets and coordinate resources toward timely claim resolution
Ensure claims follow company protocols, are accurately documented, and are resolved and paid timely
Prepare and present high-profile, complex information to senior leadership, customers, counsel, and other stakeholders
Maintain subject matter expertise and compliance with state/local regulatory requirements
Mentor, guide, develop, and train less experienced Claim Professionals
Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree
Typically ten years of relevant or related experience
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable
Advanced negotiation experience
Expert knowledge of Specialty insurance industry, products, policy language, coverage, and claim practices
Extensive experience interpreting Specialty insurance policies and coverage
Extensive experience leading complex negotiations and developing and implementing resolution strategies
Ability to oversee/manage outside counsel and collaborate with other carriers
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn business-related software
Professional designations highly encouraged, e.g. CPCU
JD preferred
