About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary HR point of contact for choir directors and staff
- Manage employee-relations issues, member-relations escalations, and sensitive conversations
- Support performance management, coaching, corrective action, and terminations
- Maintain personnel files and documentation
- Monitor multi-state labor law and payroll compliance
- Oversee compliance training and required postings
- Manage workers' compensation cases and leave programs, including FMLA, disability, and maternity leave
- Provide regular compliance and payroll reports to leadership
- Coordinate hiring and onboarding with the managed HR/payroll provider
- Manage background checks and required employment documentation
- Lead onboarding and training for new employees
- Partner with the managed payroll provider on payroll processing and compliance
- Coordinate payroll garnishments and PTO/sick-time tracking
- Support benefits administration and employee questions
- Build practical HR processes, policies, and documentation
- Support organizational design, role clarity, and communication standards
- Help strengthen culture, consistency, and the member experience across all choirs
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in multi-state environments
- Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and payroll coordination
- Experience administering onboarding, leave and PTO administration, benefits coordination, and personnel records
- Deep experience with employee relations and conflict resolution
- Ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism
- Strong communication and documentation skills
