About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage an inventory of low to moderate complexity and exposure commercial claims
  • Verify policy coverage, gather necessary information, maintain file documentation and authorize disbursements within authority limits
  • Interact professionally with insureds, claimants and business partners to support customer satisfaction and meet quality and cycle time standards
  • Provide regular, timely updates and respond to inquiries and requests for information
  • Verify coverage and establish timely and adequate reserves by reviewing policy language and estimating potential claim valuation
  • Conduct investigations, take recorded statements and work with experts to determine liability and compensability
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners, suppliers and experts to facilitate best claim outcomes
  • Negotiate settlements and escalate claims to management as appropriate
  • Manage expenses through timely and accurate claim resolution and resource oversight
  • Identify subrogation, salvage and potential fraud opportunities and make appropriate referrals
  • Maintain compliance with state and local regulatory requirements
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school Diploma required
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable
  • Developing basic knowledge of the commercial insurance industry, products and claim practices
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy while providing exceptional customer service
  • Ability to develop collaborative business relationships with internal and external work partners
  • Able to exercise independent judgement, solve basic problems and make sound business decisions
  • Analytical mindset with critical thinking skills
  • Strong work ethic, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment at high levels of productivity
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn business-related software
  • Adaptable to a changing environment
  • Ability to value diverse opinions and ideas
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Prior claim handling, business experience in the insurance industry and/or customer service preferred
