About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform routine processing of the least complex claims following established procedures
- Receive new claim notices, confirm coverage, verify applicability and establish claim files
- Review routine claims using preset procedures to determine claim resolution
- Collaborate with insureds, claimants, and repair or replacement suppliers on routine matters
- Verify accuracy and validity of bills and estimates
- Obtain backup documentation to substantiate claims
- Identify depreciation or subrogation potential in first-party claims
- Utilize medical and pharmaceutical fee schedules in workers’ compensation claims
- Maintain files and prepare standard statistical reports
- Assist with training other Claims Technicians and special project work
- Update claims systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
- Typically a minimum three years of experience
- Knowledge of claims handling procedures and documentation
- Knowledge of applicable insurance products
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work at high levels of productivity and quality
- Ability to work independently on multiple tasks
- Detail-oriented
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software
- Some college preferred
