About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide community resource expertise to the Child First team and families
- Identify and collaborate with community-based service providers and supports
- Engage with families and the Therapist in collaborative family assessments
- Identify family strengths, needs, and challenges using interviews, observations, interactions, and standardized measures
- Promote family stabilization and integrate service needs into the Child and Family Plan of Care
- Address barriers to urgent and long-term services
- Enhance caregiver executive functioning skills in consultation with the Therapist and Coordinator
- Maintain a reflective stance when engaging with caregivers
- Use videotaping to enhance therapeutic work and reflective supervision
- Utilize Abecedarian techniques to promote healthy attachment and child development
- Provide interactive, growth-promoting play experiences
- Engage in weekly individual, team, and group reflective clinical supervision
- Participate in the Child First Learning Collaborative, including training and distance learning
- Track assessment completion and enter information into the appropriate database
- Maintain documentation for clinical accountability and reimbursement
- Maintain schedules and complete tasks to achieve home visiting Benchmarks and meet Accreditation standards
- Provide mental health and developmental assessment and consultation within early care and education settings
- Participate in other appropriate clinical and administrative activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completion of Bachelor’s Degree, with Human Service field preferred
- Meets requirements under 10A NCAC 27G.0104 as a Qualified Professional for Mental Health
- Minimum of three years’ experience working psychotherapeutically with culturally diverse children and families is highly valued
- Experience with parent-child therapeutic work and play therapy with very young children (0-5 years)
- Knowledge of relationship-based, psychodynamic intervention and early child development
- Knowledge of parent-child relationships and attachment theory
- Knowledge of effects of trauma and environmental risks on early childhood brain development
- Knowledge of community-level risk factors such as poverty and homelessness
- Experience providing mental health assessment and consultation to early care and education sites
- Knowledge and experience working with adults with mental health, substance use, and cognitive challenges
- Experience providing intervention within diverse home and community settings
- Ability to speak a second language such as Spanish, Portuguese, or Creole is highly valued
- Strong commitment to the vision, mission, and goals of Child First
- Highly organized, self-motivated, reliable, and flexible
- Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including at least one evening
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable with computers and experienced with Word and Excel
- Reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance for home visits
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work in community settings
