About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as a member of each PortCo's leadership team and dedicated HR business partner to leadership and managers
- Balance day-to-day tactical support with strategic, proactive leadership guidance
- Facilitate the full integration of portfolio companies into the Collective Residential framework
- Design and lead employee engagement strategies, communications, and culture initiatives
- Develop relationships and build trust with leadership teams and managers on-site and virtually
- Coach managers and leaders through employee relations and disciplinary situations
- Own complex employee relations matters, including resolving concerns, mediating conflicts, conducting investigations, and guiding policy application
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze turnover trends, and share feedback with managers and Operations leaders
- Deliver and localize training on corporate initiatives, policies, and programs
- Develop and facilitate in-person management training
- Manage the internal learning management system and monthly compliance reporting
- Process employee status changes in Prism HRIS and oversee and approve payroll files
- Implement the annual performance review process across all portfolio companies
- Support compensation and bonus preparation
- Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures and escalate legal or compliance risks
- Recruit for select unique, senior, or hard-to-fill positions
- Partner on process improvements, policy rollouts, and company-wide people initiatives
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of progressive human resources experience, with a strong track record as a strategic HR business partner
- Experience in residential multifamily property management, real estate, or a related multi-site operating environment strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification a plus
- Experience supporting employees across multiple states/locations; working knowledge of federal and state employment law
- Demonstrated skill in employee relations, conflict resolution, coaching, and influencing leaders without direct authority
- Proactive approach using automation and process innovation to eliminate friction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present recommendations clearly to leadership
- Ability to work beyond traditional 9-5 business hours, including evenings and weekends, to respond to a rapidly growing organization
- Ability to travel to PortCo offices and worksites as needed, at times with short notice (up to ~15%)
