About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate, monitor, and maintain building automation systems and equipment, including HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, generators, compressors, and related mechanical systems
- Start, shut down, and regulate mechanical and electrical systems such as rooftop units and heating equipment
- Monitor system performance using control panels, gauges, alarms, and computerized systems; identify irregularities and take corrective action
- Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Manage ventilation systems and service or replace filters to maintain indoor air quality
- Inspect building systems and equipment, identify maintenance requirements, and report findings to management
- Maintain mechanical and electrical rooms in a clean, safe, and operational condition
- Respond to tenant service requests and emergency situations
- Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance and repair work
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, environmental regulations, and company procedures
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1 to 3 years of related experience in a commercial real estate environment
- 5th or 4th Class Power Engineering Certification, BES I & II, or an equivalent designation
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to multitask and respond effectively to time-sensitive priorities
- Flexibility to work varied hours and participate in a rotating on-call schedule
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Currently authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis
- Applicants must not require employer sponsorship for work visas
