About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct the administrative, clinical, and resident care services within senior living communities
  • Directly manage all Wellness Staff across all shifts
  • Implement and coordinate services for residents admitted to the community
  • Perform resident admissions quarterly, after hospital or skilled-environment stays, or upon change of condition
  • Assess preventive and restorative program needs and establish quality-of-life goals
  • Obtain written orders for changes to service plans
  • Verify MARs/TARs and coordinate with the pharmacy
  • Assess dietary and hydration needs
  • Monitor monthly weights and vital signs
  • Evaluate skin integrity and functional status and maintain weekly records
  • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate the Wellness Department
  • Support staff with interpretation of criteria and standards
  • Evaluate occurrence reports and Care Associate logs
  • Build relationships with residents and families and coordinate needed assistance
  • Complete paperwork and recommend more efficient department operations
  • Complete daily rounds on all residents
  • Order and maintain Wellness Department inventory within budget parameters
  • Plan monthly staff meetings and trainings with the Life Enrichment Director
  • Advocate for residents with external medical care providers
  • Develop and update Care Associate assignments and task sheets in point-of-care software
  • Maintain written and electronic records
  • Develop, organize, implement, and evaluate staff training
  • Provide training for other departments as needed
  • Interview and hire staff within budget guidelines
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency policies and provide updated information to staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Required travel between Oakland, Livingston, and Macomb County; territory may expand
  • Independent living setting experience
  • Previous regional experience required
  • Compassionate toward the senior population, especially those with Alzheimer’s and dementia
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to stand for long periods and communicate effectively
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle keyboard, telephone, paper, files, and other equipment
  • Ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
