About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct and coordinate administrative, clinical, and resident care services within a senior living community
  • Manage all Wellness Staff across all shifts
  • Implement and coordinate services for residents admitted to the community
  • Perform resident admissions and reassessments after hospitalization, skilled care, or changes in condition
  • Assess preventive and restorative programs and establish quality-of-life goals
  • Obtain written orders for service-plan changes
  • Verify medication and treatment administration records and communicate with the pharmacy
  • Assess dietary, hydration, skin integrity, and functional-status needs
  • Monitor monthly weights and vital signs
  • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate the Wellness Department
  • Supervise staff in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
  • Evaluate occurrence reports and Care Associate logs
  • Build relationships with residents and families and coordinate needed assistance
  • Complete paperwork and recommend operational improvements
  • Conduct daily rounds on all residents
  • Manage Wellness Department inventory within budget parameters
  • Plan monthly staff meetings and trainings with the Life Enrichment Director
  • Advocate for residents with external medical care providers
  • Develop and update Care Associate assignments and task sheets in point-of-care software
  • Maintain written and electronic records
  • Develop, organize, implement, and evaluate Wellness staff training
  • Provide training for other departments as needed
  • Interview and hire staff within budget guidelines
  • Maintain knowledge of emergency policies and provide updated information to staff

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Required travel between Oakland, Livingston, and Macomb County; territory may expand
  • Independent Living setting experience
  • Previous regional experience required
  • Compassionate toward the senior population, especially those with Alzheimer’s and dementia
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and review detailed documents and computer screens
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
