About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the company’s indirect and direct tax compliance, including sales and use tax, property taxes, corporate income tax, and other state and local tax obligations
  • Prepare, review, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns for multiple state and local jurisdictions
  • Ensure timely and accurate compliance with indirect tax filing and payment requirements
  • Review transactions to verify the proper application of sales and use tax rules, including product and service taxability
  • Assist with tax registrations and ongoing nexus compliance
  • Research and interpret changes in indirect tax laws and regulations, communicating impacts to management and business partners
  • Support state and local tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to auditor requests
  • Assist in gathering, organizing, and reconciling work papers to support book-to-tax differences for corporate income tax returns
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve tax-related issues and improve compliance processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance tax reporting efficiency
  • Maintain accurate tax records and documentation in accordance with company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in corporate tax, sales and use tax, or general tax accounting
  • Knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience preparing and filing indirect tax returns across multiple jurisdictions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with indirect tax software such as Avalara, Vertex, or Sovos preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms preferred
  • Familiarity with tax automation initiatives and process improvement projects preferred
  • Ability to review detailed documents and read computer screens
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Some travel may be required
