Key responsibilities & impact

Build and evolve AI/ML platform capabilities supporting repeatable training, evaluation, deployment, serving and model monitoring
Embed versioning, traceability, automated checks, controlled promotion and rollback into AI/ML deployment workflows
Develop reusable infrastructure, deployment patterns and operational tooling for self-service platform adoption
Use incidents, performance trends and recurring support issues to address root causes and prevent repeat failures
Make platform consumption and cost visible through FinOps practices
Improve workload scheduling, scaling, resource utilisation and capacity management
Embed security and operational controls into platform design with security, architecture and risk partners
Shape platform roadmaps, lead complex design decisions and align teams around reusable solutions
Collaborate with software engineers, AI/ML practitioners, architecture, security and operations teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong software engineering skills, including Python or another relevant programming language, API development, automated testing and maintainable tooling
Deep understanding of cloud-native engineering, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code and automated delivery practices
Practical experience taking AI/ML workloads into production, including model pipelines, artefact and version management, deployment, serving and monitoring
Understanding of the operational needs of AI/ML workloads, including reproducibility, data and model dependencies, compute requirements and production performance
Ability to translate complex requirements into secure, reusable platform capabilities
Strong experience applying reliability engineering practices, including service-level objectives, observability, capacity planning, incident response and recovery
Automation-first mindset, with experience eliminating recurring manual work and improving developer and operator experience
Experience applying FinOps principles, including cost allocation, consumption visibility, rightsizing and workload optimisation
Ability to assess cost, performance and resilience trade-offs, including the resource demands of AI/ML training and inference
Experience embedding security, access controls and operational governance into engineering workflows
Strong technical judgement and ability to influence across teams, mentor engineers and turn engineering improvements into measurable outcomes
