About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and grow a team of 6 to 8 engineers
- Handle hiring, performance management, and career growth
- Develop engineers who can independently manage customer escalations, data migrations, and incidents
- Set the roadmap with the product partner
- Transition customers from requested reports to self-service reporting and independent book closing
- Own financial correctness across the platform
- Maintain shadow parity harnesses, cross-report tie-out checks, drift monitoring, and correctness SLOs
- Lead multi-quarter ledger report and OLAP golden-view migrations with parity checks
- Maintain customer relationships with comptrollers, CFOs, and RCM directors during month-end
- Translate customer definitions of correctness into software
- Convert recurring escalations into roadmap priorities
- Coordinate execution with payments/posting, data infrastructure, and operations teams
- Ensure upstream changes do not break downstream financial numbers
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years managing software engineers, including senior and staff-level individual contributors
- Experience growing engineers into leads and staff engineers
- Experience shipping financial, reporting, or data-intensive production systems where numbers had to tie
- Backend and data fluency, including reviewing query plans, evaluating ledger designs, and debugging parity failures
- Experience setting direction for a product surface
- Comfort explaining financial changes to CFOs
- Operational discipline with on-call, SLOs, and monitoring for correctness and availability
- Ability to work effectively with incomplete information and reset timelines honestly
- Willingness to come into an office at minimum 3 days a week
- Ability to work in the United States; sponsorship question included in application
- Nice to have: healthcare RCM, billing, practice management, clearinghouse, or fintech experience
- Nice to have: OLAP stores such as StarRocks, ClickHouse, or Druid alongside PostgreSQL
- Nice to have: double-entry accounting, append-only ledgers, or audit-trail requirements
- Nice to have: platform re-architecture experience while maintaining the existing system
- Nice to have: production LLM feature experience
