About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the networking backbone of Commure's multi-cloud, application, and corporate infrastructure
  • Design, build, and operate multi-cloud network foundations across GCP, AWS, and Azure
  • Design VPCs, routing, transit hubs, IPAM, IPv6, and multi-region failover using Terraform and Crossplane
  • Build hybrid and on-prem connectivity using IPsec VPN, BGP, Cloud Interconnect, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, and traffic engineering
  • Design Kubernetes networking with Cilium, eBPF, Gateway API, Envoy, Istio or equivalent service mesh, and mTLS
  • Operate edge infrastructure including load balancing, DNS, WAF, DDoS mitigation, and rate limiting
  • Implement firewalls, segmentation, zero-trust access, encryption in transit, and policy-as-code supporting HIPAA and SOC 2
  • Own network observability using flow logs, packet capture, eBPF visibility, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana
  • Automate networking with GitOps, Argo CD, pre-merge validation, and self-serve modules
  • Debug TCP/UDP, NAT, connection tracking, asymmetric routing, MTU, and kernel networking issues
  • Make architectural decisions, write production code, and establish patterns for other engineering teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years of experience in cloud native networking or infrastructure engineering
  • Deep expertise in TCP/UDP/ICMP, BGP, IPsec, NAT, stateful firewalls, VLANs, bridges, TUN/TAP, and connection tracking
  • Experience with public cloud networking across GCP, AWS, and Azure
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native networking, including CNI, eBPF, Gateway API, Envoy, and Istio
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, including Terraform and Pulumi
  • Experience designing and operating VPN and site-to-site connectivity at scale
  • Experience with BGP route filtering, multi-path routing, and traffic engineering
  • Experience with network security, including firewalls, WAF, DDoS mitigation, segmentation, and zero-trust
  • Experience with network observability and performance troubleshooting, including flow logs, packet analysis, latency, and packet loss
  • Must be comfortable working in one of Commure's offices 3–4 days per week
  • Must be authorized to work in the US or indicate whether sponsorship will be required
  • Preferred: experience with Cloud Interconnect, kernel network tuning, BGP route optimization, DNS infrastructure, on-prem or hybrid environments, CNCF networking projects, network automation and testing, and regulated industries
