About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develops creative ideas and concepts across communication platforms from conception to completion
  • Develops and proposes creative solutions responding to communication strategies and client goals
  • Writes and edits content for email, web, print, fundraising, marketing, technical, and creative communications
  • Writes within Compassion’s brand style, voice, standards, and messaging guidelines
  • Develops naming and headline concepts
  • Writes for different audiences and age groups, including adults and children
  • Works as part of a team of writers and designers in partnership with marketing strategists
  • Manages and delivers multiple projects simultaneously
  • Develops creative projects from project briefs to promote and expand Compassion’s mission
  • Produces effective, results-oriented, brand-building creative solutions focused on engaging and building the existing supporter base
  • Serves as Managing Editor for Compassion Explorer children’s magazine
  • Owns and contributes to recurring supporter communications, fundraising campaigns, child sponsorship communications, digital content, and other creative initiatives
  • May coach and provide expertise to other creative professionals and support staff
  • Advocates for children and prioritizes child protection in decision-making and activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Only applications with portfolios or samples attached will be considered
  • Approximately 7 years of professional writing, copywriting, content marketing, editorial, or communications experience
  • Proven ability to write across multiple content types and communication channels
  • Strong storytelling, editing, and content development skills with a commitment to quality and brand consistency
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with writers, designers, marketers, and other stakeholders
  • Knowledge of international development, child sponsorship, or global ministry environments preferred
  • Experience with Workfront, Adobe InCopy, or similar content management tools preferred
  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Consistent witness for Jesus Christ and courteous, Christ-like attitude
  • Faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer
  • Abides by Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct
  • Reports concerns of child abuse, neglect, or exploitation through Compassion’s internal reporting process
