About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead a small engineering team delivering new capabilities to production Go and React/TypeScript applications
Drive work from technical design through deployment
Own technical design, code review standards, and release readiness for the development backlog
Partner with Government product owners to shape requirements, establish priorities, and deliver mission-aligned enhancements
Ensure safe delivery of changes to live, mission-critical applications through automated testing, feature flags, and rehearsed rollback plans
Mentor engineers and promote software engineering best practices
Maintain high standards for code quality
Collaborate with sustainment, security, and platform teams to support reliable application delivery
Participate in two-week sprints, including a customer demonstration each sprint

Requirements

What you’ll need

7+ years of backend software engineering experience
At least 3 years developing production services using Go (Golang)
Strong experience with SQL, particularly PostgreSQL
Experience with REST API design
Experience leading a small engineering team through technical design, code reviews, and software releases
Experience in an Agile development environment
Experience with React and TypeScript preferred
Familiarity with containerized deployments using Amazon ECS or Kubernetes preferred
Experience with AWS GovCloud preferred
Experience delivering software in federal or other regulated environments with formal change control processes preferred
Active Secret security clearance strongly preferred
U.S. citizenship required
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance
Ability to work Monday through Friday, with core hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern
Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week
Ability to travel 0–10% within the Washington, DC metropolitan area
