About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Paramedic
- Respond to patient care assistance requests delegated by the Registered Nurse
- Perform patient care tasks, including intravenous catheter insertion and medication administration, as delegated by the Registered Nurse
- Administer medications as delegated by the Registered Nurse
- Collect and process laboratory specimens
- Maintain department supplies and equipment
- Assist with clerical duties
- Perform job-specific requirements and other assigned duties
- Serve as a preceptor for new employees
- Support patient care, environmental, and supply management functions within the Emergency Department
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B), National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced (EMT-A), or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
- One year of prior experience as an EMT or LNA
- Evidence of working effectively and positively with patients, care providers, and the multidisciplinary team
- Ability to perform as a member of a team
- Ability to perform required physical demands, including lifting, carrying, or pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work around airborne pathogens, bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids, and moving mechanical parts
