About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for population-specific behavioral health patients with simple to complex, multi-system issues
  • Apply principles of purposeful, organized thinking to make clinical judgments and decisions
  • Gather data through history taking and physical assessment and interpret data to plan and implement interventions
  • Develop, evaluate, and revise patient care plans and nursing actions
  • Document care provided and patient progress toward desired outcomes
  • Direct and supervise delegated nursing activities
  • Teach patients and significant others about the plan of care and prepare patients for post-discharge care, transfer, or procedures/tests
  • Manage time and resources to deliver patient care
  • Administer medications
  • Provide direct patient care
  • Lead the health care team
  • Serve as a resource person for the assigned shift
  • Serve as a preceptor for new employees
  • Report to the Director and/or Nurse Manager
  • May participate in supervision of Licensed Nursing Assistants and unlicensed personnel
  • Perform job-specific requirements and other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Registered Nurse - New Hampshire Board of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • Refer to "Management of Mandatory Required Certification, Competencies, Education/Training-Nursing" Policy for department specific certifications
  • One year prior clinical nursing experience
  • Evidence of experience working effectively and positively with patients, care providers, and the multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of ability to perform as a member of a team
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry or push/pull up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry or push/pull 10–25 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry or push/pull 20–50 pounds
  • Ability to perform required fine motor, hearing, speaking, and walking activities
  • Ability to frequently bend, reach, sit, squat, and stand
  • Ability to occasionally climb, perform repetitive motion, kneel, and smell
  • Required color vision, depth perception, far vision, near vision, and peripheral vision
  • Ability to work around airborne pathogens, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and other listed workplace hazards
