About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects capable of making major gifts to Connecticut Children’s.
- Develop and maintain a portfolio of 150–175 high-quality, long-term relationships with past and potential donors.
- Build donor and prospect relationships through personal contact and coordination with Medical Center faculty, staff, volunteers and Foundation colleagues.
- Achieve annual activity and outcome goals, including personal visits, major gift proposals, major gifts closed and dollars raised.
- Engage and support Board Members, Executive Management Team members and Faculty leaders in donor relationships.
- Research donors to assess capacity, inclination and interests, then define and implement major-gift strategies.
- Maintain detailed relationship records in Salesforce.
- Serve as Foundation liaison to volunteer leadership groups, departments and programs.
- Identify and analyze potential donors in alignment with capital and programmatic priorities.
- Write correspondence, proposals and briefings and submit them on agreed timelines.
- Establish and achieve visitation and solicitation goals.
- Facilitate acknowledgement, recognition and stewardship of gift commitments.
- Participate in cultivation, solicitation and recognition events.
- Perform additional Development-related activities as required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum seven years’ experience with a successful track record in fundraising, including at least two years of experience with leadership gifts.
- Direct experience in fundraising for a children’s hospital or academic medical center preferred.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize and complete multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Exceptional judgment and discretion when handling confidential financial and personal information.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Superb interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with a broad range of personalities.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Salesforce or a similar CRM is helpful.
