About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients within targeted accounts
  • Develop short- and long-term solution strategies for clients
  • Support sales segments in selling complex advanced technology solutions comprising hardware, software, and services
  • Maintain and build relationships with Account Managers, COE, vendors, and customers
  • Manage complex solution sales, including deal registration, qualification, vendor relationships, solution development, negotiations, presentations, and win/loss reviews
  • Present Connection’s capabilities and value as a complete solutions and services provider
  • Schedule and conduct customer meetings to uncover opportunities and foster long-term relationships
  • Maintain and grow existing key accounts and develop new business accounts
  • Develop sales and account management strategies to achieve revenue and gross-profit targets
  • Meet weekly or bi-weekly with Sales management regarding business/account plans and pipeline
  • Develop new-business strategies for existing accounts
  • Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly administrative functions, including expense management and calendar/pipeline reporting
  • Prepare business reviews and customized customer presentations
  • Work with manufacturer field representatives to penetrate accounts and win business
  • Develop and share best practices, mentor teammates, and improve team skills and morale

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years experience in a similar role, or IT Director-level role with consultative, solution-oriented IT experience and advisement in a solution sales capacity
  • Strong technical knowledge of IT and OEM vendors
  • Experienced knowledge of datacenter technology and solutions, including networking, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud, and managed, professional, and consulting services
  • Ability to proactively find business opportunities within existing customer base
  • Demonstrated IT sales experience developing and growing customer accounts and meeting or exceeding sales goals
  • Sound business development and account maturation skills
  • Proven sales leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong executional and presentation skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to ask probing questions and uncover root causes of problems
  • Good listening, organization, time management, documentation, planning, and performance-monitoring skills
  • Ability to learn new things with minimum direction or training
  • Strategic thinking and long-term planning skills
  • Ability to guide and develop team members
  • Partner, industry, and professional certifications for focused, growth, and emerging partners
