About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide overall direction and supervision of projects, including oversight of Project Managers, Engineers, and Administrators
- Establish operational priorities and maintain relationships with owners, OPMs, subcontractors, and consultants
- Establish and execute plans for financial success
- Assume overall accountability for jobsite safety and quality and manage critical issues
- Direct project reporting requirements
- Assist with development of standard operating procedures for the Project Management Department
- Lead business development pursuits, proposals, and interviews
- Generate leads and pursue business development opportunities using industry contacts and relationships
- Lead the work acquisition process, including profitability plans, proposal development, and interview preparation
- Identify and communicate RFP pursuit strategy
- Assign qualified staff to manage project scope and complexities
- Manage preconstruction with preconstruction and estimating teams to develop budgets, schedules, logistics, risks, and constructability reviews
- Provide oversight across all project phases from preconstruction to close-out
- Establish and execute customer satisfaction action plans
- Identify project challenges and suggest solutions to achieve objectives and profitability
- Negotiate owner contracts and oversee subcontract development and administration
- Provide high-level supervision across multiple projects
- Attend owner meetings and visit project sites regularly to monitor performance, costs, schedule, quality, safety, and profitability
- Maintain client contact throughout project duration
- Build and maintain relationships with owners, OPMs, consultants, government authorities, and subcontractors
- Mentor, train, and coach staff; perform performance evaluations every 6 months
- Ensure staff training and compliance with corporate Standard Operating Procedures
- Assist in sourcing and interviewing potential new hires
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field required
- 15+ years of experience in the lead management role for a construction manager or CM at Risk firm
- Experience leading multiple project teams on large scale projects
- Proficient in Cost Reporting required
- Thorough understanding and usage of Microsoft Office required
- Basic understanding of Schedule software, principles and logic is required
- Strong communication skills
- Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to multi-task and self-prioritize
- Motivated and driven
- Ability to work in a team environment with a primary focus on collaboration
