About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead qualitative research and evaluation across college and university consulting engagements
- Collect and code interview, focus group, and open-ended survey data using CDI’s coding frameworks
- Maintain coding quality and contribute to codeframe updates with the Research team
- Coordinate data collection logistics with campus partners around the academic calendar
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify themes, patterns, and findings
- Own reports, memos, presentations, and client-facing narratives
- Present findings and recommendations to external stakeholders
- Build CDI’s approach to assessing campus and Institutional Change Model consulting initiatives
- Conduct interviews and draft qualitative case studies
- Identify institutional spotlights for Culture Change projects with Communications
- Advise colleagues and partners on measuring organizational culture and conditions for dialogue and open inquiry
- Represent CDI in building trust and relationships with campus partners
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of applied qualitative research experience, or a graduate degree with substantial fieldwork
- Experience running interviews and focus groups
- Ability to code high volumes of data consistently using a codebook
- Experience with multi-coder QA or inter-rater reliability is a strong plus
- Clear analytic writing skills
- Ability to integrate survey results with qualitative data
- Experience measuring organizational culture using interviews, documents, and survey data
- Ability to coordinate with institutional research, academic leadership, and student affairs
- Judgment across ideological lines and understanding of nonpartisan restraint
- Comfort with qualitative analysis software; Dovetail preferred, with Dedoose, NVivo, ATLAS.ti, or MAXQDA welcome
- Ability to use AI to support coding and drafting while retaining human interpretation
- Must be based in the United States
