About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the monthly financial close process, including recording costs, reviewing journal entries, reconciling account balances and preparing reports
- Oversee integration of accounting activities for divisions and subsidiaries into CIRI’s accounting systems
- Ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to GAAP, FAR and CAS
- Manage complex monthly consolidating financial statements across CIRI, CST and subsidiaries
- Manage and maintain the general ledger system and related financial reporting, budgeting tools and software
- Develop and establish accounting policies, procedures and operational strategies focused on efficiency, effectiveness and continuous improvement
- Oversee onboarding of newly acquired entities into the financial reporting and control structure
- Lead implementation and post-implementation support for accounting software and provide organization-wide best-practices support
- Lead annual budget compilation and provide written analysis with divisions and subsidiaries
- Lead annual financial audit processes, including reviewing schedules and work papers and compiling audited financial statement data, footnotes and management discussion and analysis
- Provide financial analysis and research support to operating and administrative departments
- Research, analyze and report changes in GAAP, FAR and CAS
- Oversee ANCSA Section 7(i) accounting, reporting and audit issuance requirements
- Guide professional development of department staff
- Complete special projects and other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or business-related field
- Six years of accounting experience
- Two years’ supervisory experience
- Ability to pass a background screening
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Government contractor accounting experience preferred
- CPA license holder/candidate preferred
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and reporting standards
- Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Thorough knowledge of Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Section 7(i)
- Knowledge of general accounting operations, general ledger management, account reconciliations, financial reporting, internal controls, regulatory compliance and accounting process administration
- Ability to prepare complex consolidated financial statements
- Ability to prepare and analyze operating, capital and cash flow proformas and budgets
- Thorough understanding of an enterprise resource planning system and corresponding general ledger applicability; CostPoint, Workday, and Adaptive products preferred
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel and Outlook, and industry-standard computer software, financial reporting systems, and databases
- Strong organizational, follow-up, detail-oriented, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, leadership, supervisory and management skills
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, solve problems, exercise judgment, prioritize workload, adapt to changing business needs, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain professionalism, discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Physical ability to withstand repetitive keyboarding and perform occasional kneeling, bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, carrying and lifting objects up to 10 pounds
