About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage the day-to-day general ledger and accounting processes of all Community Associations
- Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash reconciliations, fixed assets, and other general ledger management
- Produce monthly financial statements for the Associations in accordance with GAAP and present financials to the Boards
- Ensure timely and accurate billings, cash receipt application, and vendor payments
- Collaborate with AP and AR specialists, providing oversight and review
- Monitor and manage complex accounting issues
- Approve AP invoices weekly in accordance with HOA budgeted expenses
- Manage correspondence between legal counsel and board members regarding owners in collections
- Oversee staff accountant journal entries, including depreciation and amortization
- Review quarterly financial statements and balance sheet and cash reconciliations for GAAP compliance
- Perform complex account reconciliations
- Manage audit requests and participate in the consolidated audit workstream
- Present quarterly financials and annual budgets at Board meetings
- Manage Finance Committees for all Associations
- Manage the annual budget process, reserve updates, and budget requirements
- Manage reserve funds and monitor CD expiration dates
- Coordinate and review resale requests
- Manage income tax return preparation and review B&O tax filings
- Provide team oversight, feedback, and performance reviews
- Improve accounting efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction
- Respond to owner, vendor, and internal questions
- Collaborate with operational teams on insurance, snow removal, reserve spending, and other critical items
- Manage management company monthly financials and billings
- Provide accounting, reconciliation, and review duties to corporate/development businesses as directed
- Perform other duties as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 4-6 years experience in accounting in increasingly complex roles
- Previous audit and account reconciliation experience
- Highly organized with attention to detail
- Interested in growing and developing team members while establishing a strong sense of ownership over the Association financials
- Excellent time management skills as well as the ability to work under a deadline
- General comfort in learning new technology and teaching others
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines
- Ten-key by touch
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong Excel proficiency
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable working in teams and independently
