About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Strategic Account Management team
  • Establish priorities, performance expectations, and accountability for profitable sales growth and market share expansion
  • Develop and execute strategy for key distribution accounts
  • Guide strategic account plans covering growth opportunities, profitability objectives, product priorities, competitive risks, and execution requirements
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with strategic customers
  • Lead major customer negotiations, corporate agreements, pricing strategies, and business reviews
  • Partner with field sales leadership to translate account strategies into regional, district, and branch-level plans
  • Identify opportunities to expand customer relationships, increase product penetration, strengthen market position, and create sustainable growth
  • Collaborate with Pricing, Finance, Operations, Marketing, Product Management, and Customer Service
  • Use customer insights, financial performance, market trends, and competitive intelligence to inform account strategy
  • Monitor account performance and business metrics, including KPIs, profitability, and growth objectives
  • Champion a customer-focused, performance-driven culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field required
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in sales, strategic account management, commercial leadership, or a related discipline
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Success managing large, complex, multi-location or distribution-based customer relationships
  • Experience delivering profitable revenue growth
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic account plans
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Ability to evaluate pricing, profitability, market dynamics, and customer opportunities
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills
  • Experience influencing senior-level internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to lead through influence and work effectively across multiple functions and organizational levels
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and executive-level relationship-building skills
  • Building materials, manufacturing, construction products, or distribution industry experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel by air and car as required
