About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Gather applicant information to determine the best method for meeting lending needs
Educate applicants on complementary credit union products and services
Work with the Underwriting and Analysis Department to decide loans in accordance with approval authority
Assist members with completing loan requests by telephone, in person, or online
Gather member debt, income, and supporting loan request information
Complete pending applications as much as possible for seamless finalization by teammates
Make loan recommendations through interviewing and analysis
Educate members about appropriate credit union products and services and meet or exceed sales goals
Maintain basic knowledge of competitors' products and services and use it to support member decisions
Protect the financial integrity of the credit union and its loan portfolio while balancing member service, exceptions, and risk
Provide alternatives to members who do not qualify and educate them on improving credit standing and future borrowing ability
Communicate lending decisions and navigate sensitive situations
Document loan decisions with supporting information in applications
Assume other projects or duties as required or assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Spanish/English speaking
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Ability to connect well with members over the phone
Highly flexible and able to grasp and disseminate large amounts of information in a fast-paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Confidence in recommending products and services and meeting appropriate sales and service goals
A high school diploma or GED is required
A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred
Commensurate work experience will also be considered
Prior lending experience is preferred
Ability to read and comprehend moderate to advanced instructions and correspondence
Ability to write moderate to advanced correspondence within professional etiquette standards
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations
Ability to effectively communicate loan decisions and navigate sensitive situations
Ability to work in repetitive motion for a lengthy period
Ability to work within a moderately noisy, fast-paced environment
Regular computer use required
Close vision and ability to adjust focus from close range to long range
