About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop Java applications and web services
Create new applications and replace legacy applications serving public and internal users
Update existing Java web applications to maintain functionality and implement enhancements based on user requirements
Build web applications using Java web frameworks, preferably EJB and JSF
Develop web applications and APIs using PostgreSQL to store and query data
Implement authentication for external users and systems using OAuth2 or OpenAM
Work toward CI/CD pipelines in Amazon Web Services
Ensure agency data security standards are met and approved data encryption techniques are used
Analyze user requirements, define business objectives, and implement application features and functionality
Collaborate with application developers, engineers, and subject matter experts to deliver project requirements
Investigate alternative technologies and present them for architectural review
Work remotely, with the option to come on-site as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

15 years of experience with Java Core, Java EE (JEE), Java Persistence API (JPA), and Java Persistence Query Language (JPQL)
5 years of experience with Java Server Faces (JSF) / PrimeFaces
10 years of experience with PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL
5 years of experience understanding development processes in Cloud / Amazon Web Services
5 years of experience with Java RESTful web services
Knowledge and application of WCAG compatibility
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Experience with EMSA and ability to fit with the DPHIP team preferred
Experience with Maven, GitHub, and Agile development preferred
Experience with JUnit, Arquillian, or a similar testing framework preferred
Java automated testing with Selenium and application load testing with Apache JMeter or similar preferred
Experience with JIRA and CI/CD preferred
Experience with database schema design preferred
