About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Audit, remediate, and maintain web content and digital assets across GDOT’s online channels
- Perform manual and automated accessibility audits on GDOT public websites, portals, and web applications using tools such as Siteimprove and Accessible
- Remediate non-compliant HTML, CSS, JavaScript, interactive tools, and web structures
- Ensure PDFs, videos, forms, graphics, presentations, photos, and GIS maps comply with WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508
- Assist with accessibility testing on new and existing content
- Collaborate with content creators, communications team, IT personnel, and third-party vendors on accessibility best practices
- Manage, maintain, and update web pages and custom components within GDOT’s SharePoint environment
- Create and modify SharePoint templates, web parts, page layouts, and CSS/JS integrations
- Implement ARIA roles, landmarks, and semantic HTML structures within SharePoint pages
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Web Development, Graphic/Digital Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 2+ years of professional experience as a Webmaster, Front-End Developer, or Web Accessibility Specialist
- Proven hands-on experience managing and developing within Microsoft SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server
- In-depth knowledge of ADA Title II requirements, WCAG 2.1 / 2.2 Level AA guidelines, WAI-ARIA standards, and Section 508
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive framework concepts
- Knowledge of PDF remediation tools, including Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, and accessible document creation in Microsoft Office
- High attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple compliance projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical accessibility guidelines to non-technical users
- Willingness to share expertise and knowledge to assist in creation of process development for internal teams to assist in continued compliance going forward
