About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own paid media buying across endemic trade publications, industry sponsorships, and programmatic platforms for the enterprise marketing portfolio
- Develop and evolve the annual endemic media plan, including publisher mix, placements, flighting, and budget allocation
- Negotiate publisher rates, added value, and contract terms
- Manage the full buy cycle from RFP and proposal evaluation through insertion order execution, trafficking, monitoring, make-good resolution, and reconciliation
- Evaluate publisher audiences, circulation and traffic claims, and third-party verification data
- Establish publisher evaluation and renewal frameworks
- Maintain publisher relationships and conduct performance reviews
- Plan and execute sponsorships including newsletter takeovers, webinars, research reports, awards programs, and industry events
- Develop creative briefs for custom content and sponsored editorial
- Manage print placements, reservations, deadlines, specifications, and proofing
- Manage DSP and paid social campaigns, including setup, targeting, bidding, pacing, and optimization
- Manage retargeting, lookalike, intent-based, and first-party audience segments
- Coordinate creative testing across copy, visuals, calls to action, and landing pages
- Manage paid media budgets, spend pacing, and reallocations
- Establish processes for insertion orders, purchase orders, invoice validation, accruals, and month-end close
- Manage ad trafficking, tag and pixel implementation, and third-party ad server configuration
- Develop quality assurance checklists for specifications, tracking, landing pages, legal, and brand compliance
- Manage outsourced agency and vendor relationships
- Establish campaign naming conventions and taxonomy
- Report performance by publisher, placement, and campaign and recommend improvements
- Define and track paid media KPIs and connect investment to pipeline and closed revenue
- Conduct pre- and post-campaign analysis and maintain a performance repository
- Monitor competitive share of voice and recommend placement strategy changes
- Document SOPs and buying playbooks for the in-house media function
- Advise Product and Brand Marketing partners on media feasibility, timelines, and outcomes
- Evaluate emerging inventory, formats, and buying technologies
- Share buying knowledge and mentor specialist-level teammates without direct reporting responsibility
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a related field; alternatives include a master’s degree and 4 years’ experience, a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience, or 10 years’ experience in a related field
- Experience buying media directly from publishers, including rate and contract negotiation, insertion order management, and post-buy reconciliation
- Hands-on experience managing programmatic and paid social campaigns across demand-side platforms and self-serve buying platforms
- Experience supporting multiple brands or business lines within a large, matrixed enterprise organization
- Skilled analytical thinking and data-based media investment recommendations
- Negotiation and vendor management experience
- Business process management experience
- Ability to explain media strategy, trade-offs, and results to technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to collaborate across Marketing, Analytics, MarTech, Finance, and Supply Chain without direct authority
- Understanding of the automotive industry landscape and connection of media decisions to revenue and pipeline outcomes
- Proficiency with DV360, Microsoft Monetize, Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Google Ads or Search Ads 360
- Working knowledge of ad serving and verification, including Campaign Manager 360 or comparable third-party ad servers, and viewability and brand safety vendors
- Ability to implement and troubleshoot ad tags, pixels, and conversion tracking
- Fluency in CPM, CPC, CPA, CPL, ROAS, viewability, frequency, reach, and share of voice
- Familiarity with audience activation from a customer data platform such as Salesforce Data Cloud
- Familiarity with Snowflake, Tableau, or DOMO
- Experience with project management platforms such as Monday.com
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Must clear a pre-employment drug test
- Must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
- No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in future
