About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory
- Locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on dealer client lots
- Verify vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options; enter data accurately in systems
- Inspect and document vehicle exterior and interior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components, seating, dashboard, and installed options
- Perform basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components
- Identify and document damage, missing components, or inoperable features
- Build trust with dealer clients through quality, professionalism, and responsiveness
- Educate clients about Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services
- Engage dealers to increase inspection volume and maintain participation
- Use data, insights, and partner input to maximize inspection efficiency and territory productivity
- Adapt to daily appointment and schedule changes
- Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports
- Use Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and customer performance tracking
- Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean process enhancement
- Maintain production expectations and follow safety and health procedures
- Participate in Safety Excellence initiatives
- Comply with Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy
- At senior level, perform advanced inspections, mentor peers, support onboarding, and serve as a subject matter resource
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED required for Level 1
- Level 2: High School Diploma or GED plus 3+ years of experience in a related field, or any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED, or 5 years’ experience in a related field
- Senior Level: High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years’ experience in a related field, or any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience, or 7 years’ experience in a related field
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required
- Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role within required timeframes
- Senior Level: Previous vehicle inspection experience required
- Senior Level: Strong automotive knowledge (body and mechanical) required
- Automotive-related experience preferred depending on level
- Senior Level: One year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended
- Must clear a pre-employment drug test
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship
- No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, or visa sponsorship now or in the future
- Basic vehicle inspection, documentation, VIN, mileage, sub-series, options, mechanical, electrical, Salesforce.com, and vehicle-condition assessment knowledge required by the role
