About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Participate in the Crash Champions Skills Training Education Program (STEP), a hands-on apprenticeship pairing candidates with experienced professionals
- Learn industry standards based on manufacturers’ original specifications with high quality controls
- Create complete repair plans, including vehicle disassembly and reassembly, plastic bumper repair, and minor panel dent repair
- Repair complex dents by reshaping sheet metal, applying body filler, performing two-sided plastic repair, and repairing larger panel damage
- Learn structural damage identification and access repair procedures
- Set up and anchor structural repairs and perform three-dimensional measuring of vehicle structures
- Learn welding and joining methods, materials, and tools
- Perform body filler and metal repairs using stud-gun and other metal-straightening tools and techniques
- Cut and replace small structural components
- Set up and perform MIG welding on steel vehicles to complete the I-CAR Weld Certification
- Work with an experienced Champion Mentor and receive daily instruction
Requirements
What you’ll need- 18 years of age
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours a week
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Have a valid driver's license
- Regularly position or move self to fix and repair over and under vehicles
- Ability to effectively communicate and take direction from superiors
- Ability to read and understand a work order
- High School Diploma/ GED preferred
