About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead customer relationship management for existing customers and serve as a key contact for prospective customers and external stakeholders
  • Identify and advance growth opportunities in the Core service area by monitoring development activity and establishing relationships with developers, architects, consultants, and prospective projects
  • Identify and advance opportunities to convert existing buildings to Core TES connections
  • Collaborate with the operations team to build and maintain relationships with building operators in downtown Vancouver
  • Build and maintain relationships with City of Vancouver and Metro Vancouver stakeholders involved in development, sustainability, energy, and building policy
  • Apply knowledge of municipal policies, bylaws, and regulatory requirements in customer discussions and stakeholder engagement
  • Participate in industry associations and forums with customers, energy managers, and consultants
  • Support regulatory processes by leading customer consultations and coordinating materials with the regulatory team
  • Maintain knowledge of Vancouver’s market, development activity, market trends, municipal bylaws, building codes, and energy-use requirements
  • Support the evolution of the Core steam system from a customer and market perspective

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree or Diploma in a relevant discipline, e.g. Commerce, Business, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, Real Estate
  • 8+ years of experience in government relations, business development, or customer relations in a related field
  • Experience building professional relationships within the commercial and residential real estate community
  • Well-connected within the commercial and residential real estate community and building-management community
  • Familiarity with customer engagement and relationship management best practices
  • Customer relationship and key account management experience
  • Experience shaping and advancing business development and origination opportunities
  • Understanding of Vancouver’s real estate market dynamics and development trends, or willingness to develop that understanding
  • Knowledge of Vancouver bylaws applicable to new and existing buildings as they relate to energy systems and greenhouse gas intensity
  • Experience with CRM systems
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Familiarity with origination and project development processes, real estate development, facilities operations and maintenance, sustainability and decarbonization objectives, municipal government relations, and commercial deal structuring are assets
