About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategy, leadership, and day-to-day management of the Platform Services organization
  • Lead development, enhancement, and support of integrated platform services for engineering teams
  • Define the company’s approach to AI-assisted and specification-driven development, including coding assistants, agent development frameworks, standards, and safety guardrails
  • Deliver golden path templates, scaffolds, and reference implementations for new engineering work
  • Own development environments and inner-loop tooling, including build and test performance and environment provisioning
  • Own availability, performance, support models, service-level objectives, and on-call coverage for shared services
  • Create and manage the Platform Services experience to drive secure, reliable, efficient developer delivery and adoption
  • Partner with delivery pipeline, cloud infrastructure, and runtime platform teams
  • Establish and report engineering productivity, platform adoption, service performance, and project-progress measures
  • Align platform strategy with business objectives, priorities, and budget; evaluate build, buy, and open-source options
  • Ensure tooling and shared services meet security, privacy, audit, and corporate requirements
  • Support business growth initiatives by aligning technology vision with business strategy
  • Build and manage diverse engineering teams; recruit and develop engineering leaders and top talent
  • Set team direction, anticipate strategic and scaling challenges, and lead organizational change
  • Break platform strategy into technical building blocks and mentor technical output
  • Provide continuous feedback, address underperformance, and recognize team contributions
  • Drive a results-oriented culture focused on execution, quality, speed, and high service quality
  • Work from home, with occasional planned travel to the assigned Southfield, Michigan office; may work from that office if requested by the team member

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or an engineering/technical degree; MBA preferred
  • Required degrees must be earned at institutions accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in highly technical roles in development or enterprise services, at large organizations or innovative startups
  • 5+ years of supervisory, consultant, or team lead experience, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple teams
  • Track record of delivering internal developer tooling, developer platforms, or shared engineering services adopted by other engineering teams
  • Experience leading adoption of AI-assisted software development at scale, including coding assistants, agentic development workflows, evaluation, and guardrails for releasing generated code
  • History of owning production services, including service level objectives, on-call rotations, and incident response
  • Proven ability to consolidate duplicated capabilities into a single supported platform, including migration and decommissioning work
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with C-Level leaders and convey complex information clearly across the organization
  • Familiarity with agent development frameworks, model access layers, or other AI platform capabilities
  • Background in a regulated industry or working closely with security, audit, and compliance functions
  • Working knowledge of financial services, loan origination systems, web-based applications, and the automotive industry
  • Working knowledge of the modern developer toolchain, including source control, code review workflows, continuous integration, containers, infrastructure as code, and developer portal or service catalog products
  • Ability to think strategically, align technical initiatives with business objectives, and formulate technical strategy and roadmaps
  • Experience growing a team and fostering a collaborative, ambitious, outcome-driven culture
  • Ability to navigate, identify, and improve hard-to-follow or nonexistent processes
  • History of data-driven decision-making and delivering against a strong technical vision
  • Automation mindset to reduce manual interventions
  • Strong executive presence and ability to advance ideas and initiatives
